The Script: Draft

Pitch: A group of researchers gathering information on an anomaly in their world, and its behaviors and properties.

Parts: Base, Scientist 1, 2, and 3

Scene 1:

Opening shots on technology- computers, scientific equipment, et cetera.

Narration: “I still remember it like it was yesterday. The first day, or the last depending on how you look at it. The day he woke up. The day he came for us.”

Scene 2:

A group of scientists in a forested area, shown walking towards their apparent destination..

Scientist 1: “Yeah, about here should be good. I don’t really wanna get any closer to it, do you?”

Scientist 2: “Not on your life.”

The scientists set up their equipment from backpacks and are shown taking measurements on various ecological factors such as soil and wind speed.

Scene 3:

A man is shown sitting in a room in front of a computer. Papers are littered around the room and the computer is showing scientific readouts.

Base: “Hey, someone get some of that soil a few feet to the left. It’s got a weird color to it.” Base: “Yeah, that’s the spot. Man, this stuff is weird.”

Scene 4:

The focus is back on the scientists in the forest. One is taking measurements of soil, the other wind, and the third is on a device.

Scientist 2: “What else did you expect? A rift opens on Earth’s surface, some weird stuff is bound to happen.”

Scientist 3 turns towards the forest.
Scientist 3: “Hm.”

Scientist 1: “Something wrong?”

Scientist 3: “Base, I think I heard something. Anything out there?”

Scene 5:

The man in the base is shown again.

Base: “Hold on, let me check something out.”

Base brings up a screen on his computer. Indicators are a solid red.

Base: “Uh…. it looks like we lost him.”

Scientist 1 (V.O.): “What do you mean, we LOST him?”

Base: “Unless something is on the fritz, he’s not there anymore. You guys might want to leave. Soon.”

Scene 6:

A shot of the scientists, filmed from deep in the woods itself. Non-diegetic sound: ominous music/sound cues.

Scene 7:

The group of scientists is packing up their equipment quickly.

Scientist 2 is done already and is watching the forest.

Scientist 2: “C’mon, guys, faster. I don’t like this at all.”

Scientist 3: “We’re going as fast as we can.”

Non-diegetic sound: suspenseful music

Scene 8:

The technician in Base is shown pulling up a radar on his screen. There is one mark rapidly approaching a group of three.

Base: “He’s moving your direction. You need to leave, now!”

Base: “God, he’s fast...”

Scene 9:

Another shot showing the camera rapidly approaching the researchers. A slight breathing can be heard.

Non-diegetic sound: Tense music.

Scene 10:

A shot of the radar screen as the dot approaches.

Base (V.O.): “Guys, move!”

Scientist 2 (V.O.): “Run!”

Non-diegetic music stops.
