Editing Blog 1

After me and my group were done filming the commercial the previous class, editing began. Since the commercial couldn't be a single continuous shot, editing was required. This is because my commercial has the subject running up stairs, requiring cuts. As the subject ascends the first flight of stairs, there is no editing required. Same applies to the second flight of stairs. This is because I, the cameraman, am positioned specifically so the subject can run up the both flights of stairs without minimal editing. Then, we had the subject drink Gatorade in a close-up shot. Right afterwards, the subject runs up two more flights of stairs. This is in the form of a tracking shot. Little to no editing is required here, either, because it is a continual shot too. My group and I had also filmed a similar tracking shot on our first day of filming. It would be the same thing as the first shot. Where I am positioned so that I don't have to move while filming. Then subject runs up the third flight of stairs. After that, the subject runs up a fourth without getting tired. However, the stairwell didn't have four floors. Me and the group had to film the subject running up the second flight of stairs twice to give the impression that there were four flights. There was the issue that no one on my team has editing experience. As a result, I had to watch some videos on how to edit and what to edit with. A program called Clipchamp was recommended by the teachers the group decided to use it. Below is a clip to the first flight of stairs, before the subject drinks Gatorade.
