Filming Blog 2

    This class, on 10/6/21, editing would've began. However, the commercial was less than 30 seconds long. Me and my group had to go out filming again. We didn't expect to need props so the group was forced to buy a Gatorade from a vending machine. Me and my group then returned to the staircase we had filmed at previously. I set up for filming. Shots were done over, improving them. More shots were added, such as a tracking shot. This increased the expected duration of the commercial to about 30 seconds. The previously mentioned tracking shot was a big help in meeting this requirement, as it was the longest shot the group had. General filming included the subject running up the stairs, faster after drinking Gatorade, and a retake of the closeup of the subject drinking Gatorade. After this was done, My group and I returned to class. Filming took less time today because we knew what and where to film. Only about 25-30 minutes. In class, I went over footage as my brother left to assist a friend. The new footage is definitely enough for a commercial. Below is an unedited clip that was filmed today.

Editing Blog 1

  After me and my group were done filming the commercial the previous class, editing began. Since the commercial couldn't be a single continuous shot, editing was required. This is because my commercial has the subject running up stairs, requiring cuts . As the subject ascends the first flight of stairs, there is no editing required. Same applies to the second flight of stairs. This is because I, the cameraman, am positioned specifically so the subject can run up the both flights of stairs without minimal editing. Then, we had the subject drink Gatorade in a close-up shot. Right afterwards, the subject runs up two more flights of stairs. This is in the form of a tracking shot. Our Group's Genre Decision

  My group has decided to go with a Sci-Fi blog to be our final project. This is because we ruled out a Thriller and a War movie as reasonable possibilities. Thrillers rely completely on well-constructed props, sets, atmospheres, and costumes. Accomplishing this would be very difficult for our group and very limited budget. Particularly in the case of a monster, executing this idea would be very difficult. We would need a well-designed costume to be shown only briefly throughout the entire project, which seems to be a waste of effort. Lighting presents its own problems as well. Conventionally, thrillers are dark, obscuring views to add anticipation. Our group believes this would be hard to accomplish as well, because we have very little experience filming in dark environments. The final product could come out too dark to be seen.   Camera Angles and Movements: In Godzilla: King of The Monsters, there are numerous Close Up and Extreme Close Up shots on the monsters in the film, showcasing the precise detail that was used to design the creatures. There are also wide angle and establishing shots used, post-attack, to show the mass chaos and destruction caused by the monsters’ battles.
